What is sports therapy?

Sports therapy focuses on preventing, assessing, treating and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries. Despite the name, you don't have to be an athlete to benefit, sports therapy can help anyone experiencing pain, injury or movement problems.

What are the benefits of online sports therapy?

Can a sports therapist diagnose injuries online?

Many musculoskeletal injuries can be assessed effectively through a detailed history, movement assessment and functional testing conducted over video. If your condition requires further medical investigation or a hands-on examination, you'll be advised and referred appropriately.

What injuries do you treat?

We commonly treat back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, hip and knee pain, ankle sprains, muscle strains, ligament injuries, tendon pain (such as Achilles or tennis elbow), running injuries, sports-related injuries, work-related injuries and joint stiffness.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. You can book directly without seeing your GP first.

What happens during my first appointment?

At your initial consultation, a detailed discussion about your injury and medical history will take place with a comprehensive physical assessment. Where possible, a diagnosis will be given with advice on managing your injury, a personalised rehabilitation programme if required and a treatment plan with realistic recovery goals.

What equipment do I need?

You'll need a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, a reliable internet connection, enough space to move around safely, comfortable clothing that allows you to demonstrate movements. Occasionally, simple household items such as a chair, towel or resistance band may be useful.

How many sessions will I need?

Every injury is different. Some conditions improve within one or two treatments, while others require several sessions and a structured rehabilitation programme.  This will be discussed with you after your initial consultation.

Will I receive exercises after my appointment?

Yes. Exercise is a key part of recovery. You will receive a personalised rehabilitation programme, which may include written instructions, images or videos to help you perform each exercise correctly and confidently.

Can I train after treatment?

This depends on your injury and the treatment provided. You will be advised whether you should rest, modify your training or continue exercising safely.

What if my injury needs further medical investigation?

If your symptoms indicate that further assessment is required, you will be advised to see your GP or refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional.

What payment methods do you accept?

We issue an invoice which needs to be paid by bank transfer before the time of your appointment unless agreed otherwise.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur the full appointment fee.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. All personal information and medical records are stored securely and handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
